“Joint International Symposium: Challenging the Research Development and Collaboration Through Online Discussion”
on 30 November – 3 December, 2020.
The Joint Symposium consisted of Joint Usage/Joint Research Symposium on Integrated Environmental Studies in the first two says and Chozen International Symposium on Understanding the Transboundary Pollution along North-South Transect in western Pacific region in the latter two days. We had morning webinar (lecture) and afternoon general sessions.
In total, 143 participants from nine countries (USA, Thai, Mongolia, India, Korea, China, Taiwan, Russia, and Japan) contributed the symposium. Special website was prepared for the poster session, and best student poster prize is awarded to Na Rae Choi from Ewha Womans University and Rodrigo Mundo from Kanazawa University.
The symposium was a hybrid of onsite and online meetings, and went smoothly without particular problems, thanks to participants rich experience under long activity restrictions caused by COVID19. Next challenge should be enhancing the offsite discussion which was held during, e.g., breaks, parties, etc., in previous years. We are grateful to all the contributors of this symposium.

【開催報告】
シンポジウムは前半２日間の共同利用拠点シンポジウム「統合環境研究」および後半２日間の超然シンポジウム 「北極ー南極間観測でさぐる越境汚染の全容」からなり，午前中はウェビナーを，午後は一般の研究報告セッションを開催しました。
9カ国（アメリカ、タイ、モンゴル、インド、韓国、中国、台湾、ロシア，日本）から延べ143名の参加がありました。
ポスターセッションは特設サイトを用意して実施し，ベスト学生ポスター賞は梨花女子大学Na Rae Choiさん，および金沢大学大学院Rodrigo Mundoさんに授与されました。
現地開催とオンライン参加の併用でしたが，大きな問題もなく発表・議論をすることができました。長らく続くコロナ感染症の影響でみなさんがオンライン会議に習熟しておられたおかげだと思います。これまでは休憩時間や懇親会などで行っていたオフサイトの交流を，オンライン会議でどのように実施するかが今後の課題となりました。
次回シンポジウムに向けて，引き続き関係者のみなさんからアイデアをいただき，研究ネットワークの充実を目指します。参加された皆さん，ありがとうございました。
