Outline of research

  Marine animals inhabit changing environments such as those with variable water temperatures and salt concentrations. Hormones play a pivotal role in homeostasis, which refers to the mechanism of maintaining a balanced internal environment even when there are changes in the external environment. To clarify how hormones function and how their actions are affected by environmental pollutants in marine animals, I aim to investigate the endocrinology of fishes and marine invertebrates. I am currently focusing on the hormones involved in the regulation of body calcium concentration in marine animals.
