Outline of research

My study is environmental behavior of anthropogenic long-lived radionuclides such as ¹²⁹I (T_1/2 = 1.57 × 10⁷ y) and ¹⁴C (T_1/2 = 5.73 × 10³ y), which are released with the nuclear activities. To establish the availability of ¹²⁹I as a tracer of atmospheric and ocean circulations, we elucidate the fallout and dynamics of ¹²⁹I in Japan Sea. Final goal is to estimate the turnover time of Japan Sea Bottom Water using ¹²⁹I as a tracer of vertical circulation of sea water.
