Outline of research
My study is environmental behavior of anthropogenic long-lived radionuclides such as 129I (T1/2 = 1.57 × 107 y) and 14C (T1/2 = 5.73 × 103 y), which are released with the nuclear activities. To establish the availability of 129I as a tracer of atmospheric and ocean circulations, we elucidate the fallout and dynamics of 129I in Japan Sea. Final goal is to estimate the turnover time of Japan Sea Bottom Water using 129I as a tracer of vertical circulation of sea water.
