1.能登半島における新粒子イベントの観測から考える越境汚染が与える日本国内への影響

大気中の酸化反応により生成する二次生成粒子は太陽光の散乱や雲核の形成など太陽光の放射収支に大きな影響を与えるほか、PM2.5で知られる健康問題へも影響する。本研究ではバックグランド地点である能登半島珠洲市での二次粒子生成イベントの観測を通じ、日本国内に流入してくる空気塊が二次粒子を形成する要因の決定と国内の大気質に与える影響評価を行う。

2.An analysis of Polycyclic aromatic compounds in the marine environment through abiotic and biotic tiers

Although polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are routinely studied contaminants, the nitrogenated PAHs (NPAHs) have been studied far less and the available studies examine a limited number of NPAH congeners. For this purpose, a method has been developed to analyze a wide breadth of NPAHs, with an emphasis on being able to deconvolute the isomers of nitropyrene and nitrofluoranthene. This was accomplished by using HPLC coupled to a fluorescence detector operating on two channels. With the method completed, it will now be tested on samples of marine water, sediment and bivalve species in the intertidal areas of Japan in order to understand how these compounds are being partitioned in the marine environment. This work will serve as the baseline for further toxicological tests.
