Outline of research

The fish body surface is the front line of the exposure to the predators, pathogens and chemicals via environmental water. To against those issues, fish has special protection mechanism. The antimicrobial proteins and/or peptides (AMPs) are well known innate immune related molecules found from the wide range of the organisms including fish species. I focus on the AMP-mediated host-defense system on the fish body surface tissues. Ongoing works are the alternation of the host-defense system by the chemical or physical stresses.
