Outline of research

Studies on catchment environmental changes and material transport processes based on lake and reservoir sediments

Lakes and reservoirs are sinks of earth surface materials (clastic material and terrestrial organic matter) and atmospheric fallout materials (radionuclides and atmospheric pollutants) deposited in the catchment area. Therefore, past environmental changes and present transport processes of these materials in catchment area are inferred from physical and geochemical properties of lake and reservoir sediment. We study on catchment environmental changes and material transport processes in lakes and reservoirs located in Noto Peninsula in Japan and East Asian countries.
