Behavior & Toxicity of PAHs/NPAHs

Outline of research

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their nitrated derivatives (NPAHs) are ubiquitous pollutants having carcinogenicity etc. However, many of them, such as NPAHs, cannot determined in environmental and biological materials, because of low concentrations. He developed highly sensitive determination systems for NPAHs and other PAH-derivatives. He organized the international atmospheric PAH/NPAH monitoring network including Japan, China, Korea and Russia since 1990’s. His present research interest is behaviors and toxicities of PAHs and their derivatives in the atmosphere and marine in East Asia.
